Service Providers: Extension Service

Free, Practical information you can trust!

Virginia Cooperative Extension brings the expert resources of Virginia's land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University, to our local communities to help them flourish. We focus on community development through educational outreach - and work in:

  • Agriculture and natural resources - Nursery/farm/orchard/any commercial scale production issues (we are commonly contacted for insect and disease identification), homeowner land management and environmental stewardship
  • Family and consumer sciences - Nutrition, financial management, child care
  • 4-H - Youth leadership
  • Community viability - A systems approach to building communities

In Virginia, there are extension offices in every county that offer classes, publications and connections to needed resources. We receive funding from the USDA, the State of Virginia and individual counties that allows us to provide our services free or at minimal cost.
